Life on the streets is uncertain for both humans and pets. Boomerang’s guardian often seemed impaired and his hold on safety and stability for himself and his dog was tenuous. We hoped for the best, but the eventual outcome was predictable. One day Boomerang’s guardian disappeared. He obviously planned to return because he tethered her to a milk crate filled with river rocks. By nightfall, Boomerang was scared and hungry, so she went looking for him. She scaled the steep embankment, dumping the rocks from the crate as she went. Still tethered to the crate, she stepped into the busy intersection. Blinded by the headlights of on-coming cars and trucks, she searched for a way across the street. She was frightened but desperate to find him. Luckily, a kind young woman came along and guided her to safety. We were so glad to have micro-chipped Boomerang; otherwise we would never have known what happened to her. The young woman traced her back to Silver Rescue and eventually adopted her.
When the adoption proved not a good match, Boomerang returned to Silver Rescue. She was confused by the changes in her young life, so we sent her to doggy boot camp to learn obedience commands and regain confidence in humans and other dogs. Not long afterward, she joined her new family where she now lives happily with her roommate, a rescued black Lab.
Recently Boomerang’s mom, Patsy, sent us this video. It was mostly to show us Boomerang and her sister happily riding on a four-wheeler with their parents on their farm. The video is of Patsy and her life. We think you will enjoy Patsy’s story with us and see for yourself why sweet Boomerang is so happy there.
